Ana De Armas is the spitting image of Marilyn Monroe in a new film about her life. But fans who watched the latest trailer for Blonde, out September 23, have moaned the Cuban actress’ accent is far from convincing – as she speaks with a Spanish lilt.
April Etmanski joked on Twitter: “I never knew Marilyn Monroe had a Spanish accent. Rebecca B added: “A Spanish accent for Marilyn, just no.” And Jo March tweeted: “Ana looks like Marilyn, but her Spanish accent is fighting her tongue.”
Blonde follows the stratospheric rise of Marilyn, who was born Norma Jeane Baker, who went from a troubled childhood to become one of the world’s most famous women. Ana said of the film’s script: “I found that to be the most daring, unapologetic, and feminist take on her story that I had ever seen.”
