Former AFTV mainstay Troopz was told that he made Premier League club Arsenal “relevant” in a now-viral clip — much to the fierce backlash from furious Gunners fans.
The Arsenal super-fan was a staple of the polarising fan-made YouTube channel before his departure to Barstool Sports in New York City.
Troopz, real name Aumar Hamilton, has continued to make sporadic appearances on AFTV even after his initial exit in 2020.
Speaking to AFTV presenter Cecil Jee Thomas, Troopz claimed that Arsenal “don’t even acknowledge me” and he wasn’t “respected in England.”
The former AFTV star explained: “I’m like, bro, I don’t get respected in England. Yeah, I get views, but I don’t get respected.
“I don’t get invited nowhere. I went to New York and I’m going to Yankee Stadium — one of the biggest stadiums in the world — [and] these man [sic] are throwing red carpet out for me.
“Arsenal don’t even acknowledge me. You understand? I don’t want acknowledgement, but I’m saying that…”
Thomas proceeded to interject and raised eyebrows by suggesting that Troopz made Arsenal “relevant.”
Troopz continued: “Bro, people stop me in America and they’re like, ‘Troopz, you made me an Arsenal fan. Troopz, you made me get through times of hardness with Arsenal. Troopz, your content has helped me get through like lockdown.’
“I’m like, bro, I was doing vlogs with my kids.”
The clip from AFTV went viral on social media, which prompted angry Arsenal supporters to blast Thomas’ remark about Troopz.
One fan posted: “AFTV is one of those things you have nothing [to do] with but you still feel ashamed of yourself because of it. You know the feeling?”
Another tweeted: “Why the feck would the [sic] Arsenal acknowledge you or demand respect from any fans?”
Someone else said: “They just like to hype each other up, don’t they? AFTV taking themselves too seriously.”
A fourth wrote: “Even if Arsenal start throwing out red carpets, this guy won’t be top 1million in the list.”
While a fifth added: “Get rid of the [Thierry] Henry statue outside the Emirates, make way for one of this guy, he’s earned it.”
